Finding YOUR Purpose

Are you feeling stuck or unfulfilled in your life? Do you find yourself wondering what your purpose is or why you are here? If so, you are not alone. Many people struggle with finding their purpose or "why" in life. However, the good news is that it is never too late to start searching for answers and finding meaning in your life. Let me give you a couple examples of people who did NOT discover their purpose until a little later in life. You may have heard of Vera Wang? While she started out as a figure skater and then moved on to journalism, it wasn’t until she was 40 that she opened her first bridal boutique and began her journey in fashion and design. And what about Samuel L. Jackson? He was 45 when he got his first big break! And look at him go!

So, where do you begin? The first step is to take some time to reflect on your values, passions, and interests. What do you enjoy doing? What are you good at? What gives you a sense of fulfillment or satisfaction? What are your core beliefs and values? These questions can help you start to uncover your purpose and identify the things that matter most to you. Taking this first step helps you to make sure that what you do aligns with your values and beliefs.

Setting Goals & Taking Action - Another important step is to set goals and take action towards them. Whether it's pursuing a new career path, volunteering in your community, or taking up a new hobby, taking action towards the things that align with your purpose can help you gain clarity and direction. It can also help you feel more empowered and in control of your life. Do you have a good system for setting goals? Are you good at follow-through and meeting those milestones?

Opportunities - It's also important to be open to new experiences and opportunities. Sometimes, our purpose or "why" in life can evolve or change over time. By staying open and curious, you may discover new passions or interests that lead you down a path you never considered before. This is so true. My “why” has definitely changed the last several years and that’s a good thing! I thought I had it all figured out for many years! I had a fabulous career in banking and thought I could keep growing in that FOREVER…. But that all changed when my branches were sold to other banks and I was left searching for my next position. It took several years to find my next true passion in life, but the experiences and opportunities along the way helped to mold and shape me into the person I am today who can help others grow and succeed!

Support System - Finally, don't be afraid to seek support and guidance from others. A coach or mentor is an absolute must! So are close family and friends! Whether it's talking to a trusted friend or family member, seeking advice from a mentor or coach, or joining a supportive community or group, having a support system can be incredibly helpful in navigating the ups and downs of finding your purpose.

Remember, finding your purpose or "why" in life is a journey, not a destination. It's okay to take your time, explore different paths, and make mistakes along the way. By staying true to yourself and taking intentional action towards the things that matter most to you, you can create a meaningful and fulfilling life that aligns with your purpose and values.
